RECORDED WEBCAST FEATURING HUMBER COLLEGE AND THEIR ONLINE PROCTORING PROGRAM
ABOUT THE HUMBER ONLINE PROCTORING PROGRAM
Currently, we have offered testing for placement purposes for 6500 students who are starting with the College in the Fall of 2014. We have offered the online option - as well as the in person option to all students, regardless of location. In the past, we only offered to students more than 200km from the College.
Overall, the response was overwhelming. We had at least 2000 test online this year, and there was an overwhelming amount of interest in the online testing option - more than 3000 requests for online testing came in, 1200 of those within the first 72 hours of offering this service. We did a survey at the end of the test to gauge why students did in person or online testing, and for the most part, they chose online testing as it was convenient.
Humber prides itself on being a school of technology, as well as the largest in Ontario, and one of the biggest in Canada. Launching this project at a large scale helps to set Humber apart from other institutions and responds to the students demands for online options. Due to the nature of this project, the Test Centre received College funding to launch the online testing option to students at no cost.
Our trail blazing on this initiative is also giving light to the other uses for online proctor usage that could be adopted in the College for language testing/interviews for international students, as well as the ability for those students with accommodation needs to also have the opportunity for online testing which is in line with Humber's Barrier free learning initiatives.
